JUNE 2015

As an update, work is well underway to the external grounds with foundations in for the new plant room.  We have also removed the mast to the main swimming pool.  You can see the moment it is taken down here.  We will keep you up to date with the building progress but our core focus is now on finalising our second stage HLF bid and working towards securing the final £2million which we require for the project.

APRIL 2015

Due to receiving funding for the external areas quicker than we expected we have taken the decision to commence works this month however the swimming pool will not re-open this year.  We have around 9 months worth of work to do from building a new plant room to re-instating the pool back into one pool as well as landscaping to the grounds. The great news is that next Summer when we re-open the grounds/pool the water will be heated and it will be an amazing facility.  Worth the wait...we hope you agree.  We will be keeping you posted with developments of the build phase.

22ND FEBRUARY 2015 - £4.7MILLION FROM HLF

We have secured first round development funding from The Heritage Lottery Fund (£576,000) with £4.2million assigned for the next stage of the project. Read more about it here.

26TH JANUARY 2015 - £2.3MILLION SECURED

We are delighted to announce that we have secured £2.3million from the Coastal Communities Fund which will enable us to  fully restore and refurbish the pools and outside areas. This hard fought success is our biggest grant to date and represents a major milestone in our campaign to revitalise and relaunch the lido and its iconic modernist building. Read more about it here.

25th November 2014 - We've won!

A huge thanks to everyone who voted for us and helped campaign.  With a real team effort and nationwide appeal for votes, we managed to win the most votes and have won £49,500 for the refurbishment of the children's paddling pool. You can read the full press release here and catch the short film on us collecting the cheque here.

24th November 2014 - We need your help

We are delighted to announce that we have reached the final of The People's Millions which will be broadcast on ITV Meridian (West region) on Monday 24th November.  You will be voting to help us win £49,500 which will enable us to get the children's paddling pool open for next summer (2015).  This would be an amazing boost to the project as we have secured funding for the main pool and it would be so sad to see the paddling pool still covered in stones.  Back the lido, lets get the kids pool open.

The phone number for voting will be available on Monday 24th October and you have just that day to cast your vote - its 15p a call - and you can call up to 10 times from any one number.

October 2014 - The pool will re-open next year

Thanks to funding we have secured from SIB, we have submitted a planning application for works to the external grounds, the swimming pool and the creation of a new plant room.  Rebecca Crook, Director & Chair of Saltdean Lido CIC said "This is a significant milestone in achieving our longer term vision of restoring the iconic Grade II* listed site. After 4 long years of campaigning, our hard work is paying off and we can't wait to get the pool open for local residents to enjoy." You can read more about it here.
