Saltdean Lido is the only grade II* listed coastal lido in the country.

 

Designed by architect RWH Jones and opened in 1938, its unique streamlined design encapsulates Britain’s modernist and social aspirations of the time for creating seaside architecture for the enjoyment of the masses.

 

Saltdean Lido CIC (a not for profit community interest company) has a 60 year lease for the site, and with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Historic England, the local community, Brighton & Hove City Council and others is bringing new life and a sustainable future to the previously neglected building.

The pool is already reinstated to its original crescent shape and provides a wonderful outdoor heated water experience and grassed area to thousands of visitors every year. Restoration of the Art Deco main building is nearing completion and will provide year-round attractions and event space.
